When the Relationship You Love Feels More Distant Than Ever

Every relationship moves through seasons, but right now it's hard to find each other. You keep circling the same arguments: money, mental load, intimacy, in-laws. Until someone shuts down or says something they don't mean. Maybe there was a rupture, or small hurts have grown heavy. You're looking for a path back to trust and closeness. To finally feel like a team again.

At Mother Nurture Therapy Group, we know how stress, old stories, and unmet needs can shape the space between you. We’ll help you get beneath the conflict so change can take root. Here, couples therapy is about naming the pattern you’re caught in, understanding why it formed, and learning new ways to reach for one another, especially when it's hardest.

Navigating the complexities of partnership looks different for everyone.

You might notice

  • Small talks turning into big fights

  • One partner reaches while the other shuts down

  • Resentment that keeps building

  • Feeling unseen, criticized, or like you’re walking on eggshells

  • Drifting intimacy with less closeness and ease

  • Ruptures that haven’t healed

  • Big transitions magnifying old triggers

  • Loneliness in the relationship, even with love present

You may feel locked in the cycle, but there is a way back to each other. We’ll help you steady hard moments, repair gently, and rebuild trust you can feel.

how we can help

We offer gentle, specialized care for whatever stage you’re in: from dating or newly partnered, to navigating fertility or parenthood, to empty-nesting.

We pair practical skills with deeper healing, so you can ease conflict while rebuilding trust, intimacy, and closeness that lasts.

We draw on attachment-based and psychodynamic therapy to make sense of the pattern between you: what gets said, what goes unsaid, and the softer feelings beneath it. We’ll help you slow things down to practice reaching and responding, share impact, and co-regulate. As safety grows, it becomes easier to communicate needs without blame, pause escalation, and repair missteps.

We’ll also tend to what shapes your relationship—parenthood, infertility or pregnancy loss, cultural or faith differences, trauma histories, neurodiversity, or nontraditional structures—and align support with your values. Over time, small moments of connection take root, trust builds, and intimacy feels more accessible in daily life.

The goal isn’t to erase what happened; it’s to grow the capacity to meet it together, with consistency, empathy, and understanding.

FAQs

Do we need to be “in crisis” to start couples therapy?

No. Therapy can be preventive, restorative, or both. Many couples come in to strengthen connection, not just to stop fighting.

What if one of us is more reluctant than the other?

That’s common. We’ll honor each person’s pace and concerns. Our first goal is building safety so both of you feel heard, without blame or pressure.

Do you only see couples in the perinatal season?

We specialize in perinatal and parenting issues and also support couples across life stages: dating, premarital, empty nest, and beyond.

What happens if there’s been an affair or a major rupture?

We move carefully, establishing stability and transparency first. We’ll help you decide whether and how to rebuild, and what repair looks like over time.

Do you offer individual therapy too?

Yes, some partners benefit from individual sessions alongside couples work. We’ll discuss if that makes sense for your goals.

Do you take insurance?

We’re an out-of-network practice and can provide superbills for potential reimbursement.

What are your fees?

Our private-pay rates reflect clinician training and expertise, and the time we invest in your care. You’ll receive your therapist’s exact fee before scheduling.

Current ranges:

  • Individual therapy (50 min): $180–$250

  • Couples therapy (50 min): $200–$300

Contact us for more details and to see what might be most supportive for you and your journey.

Do you offer sliding scale fees?

We reserve limited sliding-scale spots based on financial need and therapist availability. If a spot isn’t open right now, we can add you to a waitlist or provide referrals.
